Map It! Monday

My grandsons went back to school today.  Even though I will miss them, I miss being in business mode too.  I do love being able to work according to the boys' schedules though...that's the beauty of being an Independent Demonstrator for Stampin' Up!  If that's something you would be interested in, maybe earning a little or a lot of extra cash for Christmas or a vacation, I can certainly help you with that.  I would love to have you on my team!

I usually post Map It! Monday obviously on Mondays, but with the boys going back to school I decided to hold off until today.  Let's make this a double challenge.  Not only do you have the card map but how about making it a card celebrating the start of the school year, wherever you may live.  Something for a child or perhaps a favorite teacher or friend that is a teacher.  Then you can send it to them and make their day.  You don't have to be a creative or artistic person to make a card for someone you care about.  The loves shows in the work.  :)

I love the colors in this card.  I'm finding I go to Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray often.  There is just something about this look that makes me smile.

Once you've completed your challenge(s), don't forget to email or text me a scan or photo of your masterpiece.  I would love to feature you as a guest designer, with your permission of course, later in the week right here!  Thanks for playing along.  Till next week...

Happy Stamping,

Map It! Monday!

Hello Stampers!  Have you noticed when you are perusing for ideas, the strips of Designer Series Paper or Cardstock have the little upside down V or chevron cut in them?  I'm seeing this everywhere.  It does add a nice yet simple touch to a layout.  With that being said, you can tell that's what I chose for this week's challenge.  :)  I love how it turned out!  This is going into my must do's for other colors & stamps.

There is so much you could do with them.  You could just use two and put "Happy Birthday" going down each one and maybe a balloon in between the two to simulate another "banner".  How fun would that be?  You could even use this same layout with it landscape style.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.  Don't forget to share you masterpiece!  Till next time....

Happy Stamping!

Map It! Monday!

Happy Monday Stampers!  I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!  I know not all of you are Moms but I'm sure you have mothered to someone at one time or another.  It's what we do right?  :)  The weather in the Quad Cities was absolutely beautiful yesterday!  I had a wonderful weekend.  Saturday was Ed's & my 28th wedding anniversary and as every year, Friday I received a rose for each year we have been married.  When our girls were younger and he was deployed, he would also include a yellow rose for each of the girls.  He is such a thoughtful, loving husband.  I'm blessed to have had him in my life since I was a little girl.

On to today's challenge.  If you're anything like me you probably love Pinterest.  I've seen a few of those collage style cards on there lately and decided that was the map I wanted to create today.  If you don't like squares, try using circles or the one of the label punches.  I just love the idea of using your favorite Designer Series Papers and embellishments with this style.  I can't wait to see what you come up with so don't forget to send me a photo or a link to the location so I can feature you!

I am also counting down to my annual New Catalog Bash!  I've had a sneak preview and I love it!!!  I can't wait to share it with all of you!  Keep watching for your invitation.  Until next time....

Happy Stamping!

Map It! Monday!

Happy Monday Stampers!  Thank you to all that came out to the Bettendorf Community Center yesterday!  It was a cold rainy day but a great day to be inside shopping!  The next event I will be at is for a great cause, Bag a Cure 4 Cystic Fibrosis.  You can find all of the details here.

I love simple cards so today's Map It! Monday! challenge is a very simple layout.  It's all about simplicity and embellishments this week, three of them as a matter of fact;  ribbon, buttons and trinkets (safety pin).  Use whatever you have on hand and for the center sentiment, if you don't have the right punch or the Big Shot, you can make it a simple rectangle or circle or whatever you heart desires.  The important thing is to step out of your comfort zone when you're creating something from a challenge.  I simply supply the jumping off point.  I also thought I would change up the colors of the map from my typical grayscale.  I love pink and brown together.  One of my favs!

Don't forget to follow me on Facebook and to play along with the challenge.  Send me a picture of your challenge masterpiece so I can share it and feature you as a "guest designer".  Until next week....

Map It! Monday!

Happy Monday Stampers!  What is your favorite color combo?  Mine recently has been what you see in this challenge.  I love the look of gray and yellow.  Maybe it's the softness of it but then again it could be that I'm seeing it everywhere these days.  I have seen some beautiful bed linens in particular using this color scheme.

This challenge is just to get you started and it's two-fold.  First, use your favorite color scheme and second the map itself.  If you have different sized punches of the same shape you could use those.  If you have Big Shot you could use that.  Mine has the layering look of the new Big Shot Framelits.  Don't forget to share a picture of your completed masterpiece so I can feature you!

If you're out and about on the 29th, stop by the Miche Exchange Party in Bettendorf.  I will have a Stampin' Up! table and lots of goodies!

Until next time.....Happy Stamping!

Map It! Monday

Happy Monday Stampers!  It's been very hard concentrating today because I have a copy of the retired list in my hands.  :/  Have you looked it over yet?  See any that you can't live without?  I do...hence my distraction.  A girl and her stamps....it's a beautiful thing.

On to this week's challenge.  I had a lot of fun making this map!  I plan on making several cards like this.  Wouldn't a teenage girl or young woman love this?!

Change the colors and maybe use squares and you would have a great card for a young man as well.  Don't forget to send me a picture of you finished project so I can feature you!

Happy Stamping!

Woohoo!  The retired list is here.  You can click on the picture in this post or the picture to the top left.  Let me know if I can help you before they are gone!

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Yes, it's me!  I have been MIA for a couple of weeks.  Lots going on but most importantly I have had some quality time with my grandkids.  Even taught my oldest one how to ride a bike this week.  :)

Today I just wanted to take a moment and give you a heads up that the Stampin' Up! Retired List will be out tomorrow.  I will have a link to it on this page and on my Facebook page.  Look it over and let me know if there are some that you just "have to have" before they are gone for good!  The Retired Accessory List will be out on April 25th.

Of course with the Retired List being revealed, you know what that means...it won't be long until the new catalog comes out!  This year it will be released on June 1st so I will be having my annual New Catalog Bash in June rather than July.

Don't forget to check back Monday for the Map It! Monday Challenge.  I have it all ready to post.  :)

Until then...Happy Stamping!

Map It! Monday!

Happy Monday Stampers!

I hope you all had a great weekend and are enjoying some beautiful weather! It has been a busy week around the Stamping With Penny studio.  I had a craft show on Saturday and Thursday through Sunday I was helping out my husband at the Flower & Garden Show with his rain barrels.  Now that I have rested a bit, it's time for this week's map!

Do you have a funky kind of style?  If so, then this map is for you.  I used the Tasteful Trim die to make this funky background.  You could do the same thing with ribbon, torn paper, strips of paper, whatever you can imagine.  Give it a try! I can't wait to see what you come up with so don't forget to send me a photo.

Until next time....Happy Stamping!

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Hello Stampers!  I haven't been posting this week at all because I'm getting ready for a craft show on Saturday.  You can view the commercial below and if you're in the area, please stop by and say hello!

Until Monday....Happy Stamping!

Map It! Monday

Happy Monday Stampers!  Did you all remember to set your clocks ahead?  One of the many signs of spring!  I love spring.  I enjoy checking my front flower bed to see what's happening today...my tulips are poking through and I have crocus' blooms ready to open!

The butterflies on this map reminded me of spring, so today's challenge is using the map below, make a spring like card.  Be sure to send me a photo of your creation so I can feature you here!

Map It! Monday

Hello Stampers!  What's that saying?  Better late than never?  Well, that is my case this week.  I haven't forgotten about you all it's just been a busy week.  I belong to a group of local Home Based/Small business Moms.  It's called QC Moms in Business or QCMiB for short.  Long story short, we do two charities a year and tomorrow night we are doing a quarter auction for our local zoo so I have been helping to get ready for this fun event!  Needless to say, I've not even had the chance to do my version of last week's challenge.  My goal for this weekend is to work, work, work and get caught up on my blog.  Thank you for being patient.  :)

On to this week's challenge.  Such a simple design.  I think I'm going to try my version with the postage stamp punch.  I also am going to try these colors....I really like the Bashful Blue with the black.

Don't forget to send me a pic of our masterpiece so I can feature you right here!

Time to get back to quarter auction stuff.  Until next time....
Happy Stamping!

Map It! Monday

Good Evening Stampers!  As I mentioned on my Facebook page I am a little behind today, thus Map It! Monday is getting posted later than usual.  Tonight I will make my version of the map and post it then.

Had a wonderful weekend at a 14 hour cropping event.  I get to attend these twice a year and it’s a family time for me.  Both of my daughters and my cousin (more like a sister) attend with me.  We have a great time catching up and just hangin’ out together.  I get to run into some great friends too.  It’s even a good time for me to work on craft show items.  I will be attending a craft show March 24th so there will be a lot of work going on in the studio.

Today’s Map It! Monday challenge is another simple map.  Don’t you just love simple cards?  I love when I can pull up a map that is so simple I can whip one out in no time.  However, I do love the more detailed cards as well.  Most maps you can step up to make them a little more fancy.  This map is one of those cards.  I hope you enjoy it and as always send me a photo or scan of your masterpiece so I can feature you (if you choose) as a “guest designer” right here!
Stay tuned tomorrow for my version of this map!  Until then...

Happy Stamping!

Map It! Monday Challenge

Happy President’s Day Stampers!  It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.  The sun is shining, hubby is home today, the grandbabies are having a great time roller skating, I got to play in my studio and now I’m listening to Adele’s 21 album while I blog.  Life doesn’t get any better!

I have decided that when I do “my version” of my Map It! Monday challenge, I’m going  to make the map simple looking.  Meaning, it will look less like a finished card and more like a map.  Sort of like I did in the beginning when I first started my Map It! Monday challenges.  Speaking of the beginning…I can’t believe this is my 70th challenge!  Where does the time go?  Well on to today’s challenge.

Below you will see two photos.  As always, one is the map and the second is my version of an actual card using the map.  I hope it shows you how the map is just an idea.

Map It! Monday

Happy Monday Stampers!  Well, Valentine’s Day is just a day away.  Have you made a valentine for anyone yet?  I am going to work on some of them myself this afternoon….I hope.

I realized something about my card maps today.  I made my card first and then I made my map.  I’m not sure why I have been going backwards but it works so I’m not going to complain.  Maybe it’s the fact that I know what I want in my head but can’t design the map until I see the finished item.  Oh well, it works for me.

You can see below the map and card I made.  The card, therefore also the map, came from a card I saw on Pinterest.  I love the colors and design.  I just changed patterned paper and the stamp.  The flower on the front was so stinkin’ easy!  Look for a tutorial on this flower very soon!

And this one is my version of the map.  I would love to hear what you think.  You can view the original made by Lynn Put by clicking on her name.

Map It! Monday

Happy Monday Stampers!  Did your Super Bowl team win?  I must confess, I’m not a football enthusiast however as it was Sunday night my family was at our house and my son in-law had the game on.  That's one of the nice thing about the Super Bowl, friends and family gather and have a good time together and isn’t that what life is all about it…friends and family?
